I've been thinking of the material "hardware" components I need for CHIMIRA.
Light/Height
My desk lamp's arm isn't long enough to be held behind where the webcam needs to be (~80cm). I have a few options to fix this.
1. I initially thought of building some type of a stand/board for the lamp to clip onto in order to raise the light source. Stability would be a priority and it would also be nice for it to be mobile with the rest of the instrument. #notclunky
Being not very handy with building, I'm not sure how reliable it would be.
2. Thinking back on some previous light sources, there are also #tripods available for LED panels that I could use rather than building something. A friend recommended some from beloved Amazon:

If I want to use clamps for attaching the light to my instrument's surface, something like this would've been great but it's roughly 15cm too short for my desired height. Here's another tripod I could possibly use. I ended up using a microphone stand that worked pretty similarly too.
3. He mentioned something quick and easy could be to even use PVC pipes. From bottom-up, I'd need:
1 clamp to attach to my table
2 longer thin pipes
2 right-angled pipes
1 Y-pipe or a Tee to route the light source out in the middle prior to the end where the camera would be located.

There are other ways to mount my camera too: https://www.thingiverse.com/tag:Logitech_C310
Lots to think about!
Objects
I've been thinking and looking for a couple weeks about what objects (instead of my current coloured paper circles used for testing) to use for the actual instruments. Dr. Hamel suggested something with more weight than paper that I could physically push around. Also something with very solid bright colours like children's toys or objects used in tabletop games. Interesting enough, I couldn't find many of these objects at a (tabletop) game store and dollar stores. So I might need to make some. I might have some old childhood toys that I could use as well. Some ideas:
I definitely have a box or 2 of lego bricks (larger duplo lego bricks too)
might have a box of children's toy kitchenware? Plastic mugs or plates?
cut wooden pieces and.... - paint them with acrylic (might need to sand it to prevent glare off the paint) - glue on coloured paper Being able to control the colour might be neat, I could have objects with multiple colours on different sides to "flip over" and change effects in the audio.
spray paint objects without solid colours like plastic children's toys (I have so many dinosaurs!)
Really, the raised light and colourful objects are all I need since I have a working webcam already. Still have to finish how to implement [nodes] into CHIMIRA as well.
So much to do in such little time! #crunchtime
